// You guys know I am not a huge reader, not because I don’t enjoy reading, it’s just that I have the hardest time staying focused and I always drift off somewhere else in my head…ha! But this book, my friends, is a life changer, or in the words of Brene Brown, a life saver. I actually ordered both the audio version and the paperback version. I figured with all the driving I’m doing right now, the audio version would be great, and I was actually able to take it all in better.
The book is all about vulnerability and connection. I found myself more than once thinking, “Holy shit, this is so true, or omg, this is me!” I could go on and on about this book and how differently it’s made me think and feel, but if I did that I have a feeling I would be here all day 🙂
Below are just a few of my favorite inspiring quotes from Brene Brown, and her book, Daring Greatly.
“When we spend our lives waiting until we’re perfect or bulletproof before we walk into the arena, we ultimately sacrifice relationships and opportunities that may not be recoverable, we squander our precious time, and we turn our backs on our gifts, those unique contributions that only we can make,” says Brown. “Perfect and bulletproof are seductive, but they don’t exist in the human experience.” -Brene Brown, PHD, LMSW
“Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness.” -Brene Brown PHD, LMSW
“We judge people in areas where we’re vulnerable to shame, especially picking folks who are doing worse than we’re doing. If I feel good about my parenting, I have no interest in judging other people’s choices. If I feel good about my body, I don’t go around making fun of other people’s weight or appearance. We’re hard on each other because we’re using each other as a launching pad out of our own perceived deficiency.” -Brene Brown PHD, LMSW
// Last night for dinner I made Danielle Walker’s korean beef noodle bowl from her book, Against All Grain. This was hands down the best paleo meal I’ve ever cooked, and possibly the best meal I’ve ever made in general…ha! Todd and I both went back for seconds, and I may or may not have gone back late night to the fridge to have a few more bites from the leftovers. I swear I have been living under a rock, and I can’t believe that I just bought my first spiralizer! Many of you, via Instastories, asked which spiralizer I had…I ordered this one from Amazon. It’s at a great price and has fabulous reviews!
// I just ordered this mirror for Taylor’s bathroom, and I can’t get over how gorgeous it is! It’s on major sale right now at Neiman Marcus until Friday.
// Speaking of major sales and Neiman Marcus, they have so many beautiful new arrivals for fall marked 30% off! But again, prices go up on Friday, so I would order soon if you see something you love. And you must check out the back of this stunning Joie sweater!
// I was scrolling through my phone this morning and found this picture of Taylor from Halloween. I thought it was too cute not to share, and I always want to remember her love for Mickey Mouse (even when he is dressed up like a vampire).
// Nordstrom just announced the start of their 40% fall clearance sale today!! As always, it’s a good one y’all!
// And last, here are two few recent fall outfits I am loving ……..
I had been eyeing this sweater for quite a while, but I wasn’t sure which color to choose or which size to get. I ended up going with the nude (which is more of a pink/nude mix in person) in a size US 4. Topshop usually runs small, but I found this sweater more true to size. I love the slouchy look and the soft fabric!
Sweater runs on the big side so size down, and for reference, I am wearing the xs.
This beef noodles look so yummy 🙂 I am going to have to try it
