Many of you warned me this would happen. It’s day two off of painkillers, and omg!!! I knew I would probably feel a little different, but I had no idea it would be like this.
I know many of you are probably OVER hearing about this entire surgery and my stomach ha! But a lot of you wanted to know, plus I want this for my memory. You know in case I decide I need new boobs or something….. I am freaking kidding!!!
So I feel like Tuesday’s post was all kind of smoke and mirrors. I was high as a kite and seeing nothing but butterflies and rainbows (and not a swollen tummy).
This morning however is a different story. I took my bandages off to jump in the shower and the tears started to flow. My stomach was swollen and my incision looked terrible, well I am going to spare you the details. Actually I am not, because I know this will change as it heals. But right now it’s bad, and my scar is pretty high. By high, I mean (like an idiot) I tried to put on a pair of my bikini bottoms and my nasty incision was way above the top of my bikini bottoms and the tears began to flow.
My emotions are all over the place (those painkillers are no joke). Todd doesn’t understand, and I don’t really expect him too because in all reality I don’t either. He just thinks “Caycee, you have wanted this for years, and it finally happened, so please just be happy!!!” I want to be, and I am sure in a few days I will be. Right now I am just in some pain, ready to get this drain out, and trying to get back to planet Earth.
On a good note, I am so happy to have my babies back!!! They make me so happy and their sweet spirits are taking my mind off everything else. Carson is the sweetest ever. When he saw my boo boo I could tell it made him uncomfortable. He came over hugged me very softly and said, “Mama, I am sorry you are hurt.” Then, a few minutes later in his sweet voice he said, “But mama, I can’t stand to look at that thing anymore.” Haha! I love his honesty. Taylor, on the other hand, keeps trying to take my drain and keeps telling me it’s her boo boo. Girl will try to take all the attention I tell you! #likemotherlikedaughter
So a real update on what my stomach looks like…….. I am only sharing these because I had so many people thinking about this surgery and wanting to know all the details.

With all this said, and my emotions all over the place, I still think I made the right decision. I think in the end, after it all heals, I am going to feel better about my body and it’s going to look good. After all this was an elective surgery, so I don’t want to come off as complaining, I just want you all to know how everything is really going!
Now please, you guys be honest and let me know if you would like to continue to be updated, or would you rather go back to pretty pictures and fashion? Either way, I am cool with it!
We are definitely doing pretty for tomorrow though!!!

  1. Oh Caycee,I have never commented but I had to today. I had elected surg. three yrs ago this June, and I too got the post surg. blues. My doctor never discussed the possibility of this happening, but I have since learned its all part of the journey… You will feel so much better this time next week I promise. You are such beautiful woman, and just know humbleing yourself to put it all out here is on the blog world is so appreciated! You are not seeing yourself correctly due to all the medication haze, but you look unbelievable already! I cant wait to see the outcome in several months! Thank you so much again for being so real! That is why all your followers love you! 🙂

Honestly, from the pictures you showed it doesn't look bad at all!!! It is your body and you just had a major surgery, elective or not, you are going through a healing process. I bet things are going to just keep changing and looking better from here on out. I would be doing the same thing, I over analyze EVERYTHING! Your story helps those who might be considering this surgery in the future, so no worries girly! : )

Caycee, I love your blog because of your honesty and sense of style. Please continue with the updates after all it is your blog!!!! I have family in Charleston so I can relate to you enjoying the wonderful sites and restaurants in the area. I am curious in regards to how long do you have to keep the drain. I am 60 years old and have pondered a tummy tuck. My stomach muscles are weak due to having big babies then having a hysterectomy. I have a small frame so my muffin top gets on my nerves.

  9. GEM says:

I find it all fascinating ! I actually think it is cool to hear about your experience. And I agree with the above comments, I really don't think it looks that bad at all. You look amazing, and the scar , I am so impressed with what they are able to do now! You will be so happy once the bandages and pump are gone. I am sure it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but I really think you look great considering so JUST had the surgery. I can't even imagine what it will look like even a week from now. Keep us updated!

  10. Please keep on keeping it real and sharing. I really hope you get over the pain and the blues super fast. Thinking of you lady (and you still look awesome).

First of all- keep updating! We can always get back to fashion but I'm super curious to find out how it goes, how you feel and of course we all can't wait to see the beautiful before and after (when its all said and done) pic! The swelling doesn't look as bad as you described and I'm positive it'll turn out fab Mrs. Simpson (haha) Hope you start to feel better!! xoxo

  12. caycee says:

Thank you Beth!! Ahh the drain I was suppose to get it out last week, but I still draining fluid so in it has to stay ;( They promised it would be out by Friday though!!!

  13. I am sorry you are hurting! You look fantastic btw especially for less than a week out from surgery!
I had elective eye surgery in October and wasn't a candidate for lasik so I had prk instead, which is very similar but much more painful and the recovery is much longer. I am so so happy I had it done now but then? I just wanted to cry but couldn't because it felt like someone was stabbing me in the eyeballs! I was in so much pain and it took over 2 weeks for my vision to be good and I just wondered why on earth I ever thought it would be a good idea?! All of this to say, I am confident that 6 mos from now, you will look back on this and feel like I did. Hang in there and feel better!!

PS Those shoes are too cute!!

  14. caycee says:

Thank you Melissa….. I am going to keep on blabbing then 😉 xoxo Caycee

  18. caycee says:

Natalie thank you so much for this!!! It's so nice to know I am not going crazy over here!!! And how sweet are you?!? I swear if we were in person right now I would give you a big old hug and kiss!!! xoxo

  19. Unknown says:

Cacyee I love hearing your progress and your honesty, my stomach looks like yours DID but much much worse! I'm going to have to have a full tuck and reconstructive ab surgery (doing the same thing you did right now, do I want one more baby or not?!) and I can't wait for it. Keep posting, it will be good for you to look back on too. I think you look fantastic. These blues are normal, I've had two cesareans and I'm pretty sure I had the same feeling after both, haha! Hope you start to feel better soon. You are going to be seriously rocking that bikini in a month or two, just wait!

  20. Julia Ryan says:

Girl, you know I love your crazy 😉

  21. Unknown says:

Yes! Please, please, please post all the updates! I want to know! If somebody is " OVER hearing about this entire surgery " they can skip that post!

  22. Meredith says:

Hopefully you'll find some new bottoms that cover it. Praying for a speedy recovery, please post updates.

  23. caycee says:

Thank you Meredith!! I have been on the search, the doctor said yesterday when the swelling stops the scar should drop a little! xoxo caycee

  24. caycee says:

hahaha!! Love the way you think Nina!! I will keep y'all updated for sure!! xoxo Caycee

  25. caycee says:

Thank you Kimberly! Good luck to you on your surgery!!! O yeah I remember so well the baby blues….it's kinda the same 😉 and you crack me up…..I sure hope so!! xoxo

  26. The shoes are so cute! Your tummy will heal up nicely — promise! I'm sure you had fantastic doctors. I had a small surgery on my ear last year and it looked awful and so gross at first. Two weeks late it had completely healed and you could never even tell I had anything done. It looks totally normal. You will be FINE! xoxo

  27. Unknown says:

I hope things get better love! I think you will feel so much better about things once they start to heal and the drain is removed…but it takes time so just remember that! And how adorable is your little one in her Yosi flats!!! XoXo

  28. Nat says:

Hang in there girl!! It will get better as the swelling goes down and you lose the pump. I can imagine your emotions are all over the place but keep on sharing with us if you want- especially if it makes you feel better to have a big group of ladies to vent too 🙂 Also could you and Taylor be any cuter in your matching shoes?! I die.

  29. It's going to take time to heal so hang in there and keep your thoughts captive. My friend had a tummy tuck and it looks amazing! I'm praying for your sweetie! It's so sweet of you to share this with your readers. Hope you have a beautiful Mother's Day! Hugs and kisses! XOXO

  30. Unknown says:

    Wishing you a speedy recovery!!!

  31. I think it looks better already! We are the harshest critics on our own bodies. I'd be the same way I'm sure. Give it time!! I would love to continue to see your progress at it heals. Thank you for sharing. I love how real you are and your honesty. You are beautiful inside and out! 🙂

  32. I don't know if it would work on your scar, but you could try Vitamin E capsules (break open) to reduce the appearance.

  33. You are very brave to post this and I am so glad you did – for yourself and your readers and followers. And after todays post – 8 weeks has made a huge difference! x
