Well I am at it again, redoing a room 🙂 I am pleased with most all the rooms in my home, but there are still a few I would like to redo. Our dining room is first on my list. A new paint color is not an option as I just had it painted about a year ago. Really I like the color, just not the curtains and all the dark furniture. It makes the space feel so closed in. After lots of thinking and searching I have decided to do a white/off-white drape. I know boring, but I am so drawn to neutrals and I never get tired of seeing them! Now what to do with all the dark furniture?? Slipcover the chairs? Get two new upholstered end chairs? Paint the chairs white? You thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

Or should I leave the 4 middle chairs the way they are and do  2 upholstered end chairs like these??

Love your inspiration photo's! I say put a nice rug down under the table, slip cover the 4 interior chairs, and do a decorative chair on each end! Love that idea, I think it would look classic yet modern!

I"m obsessed with the room with yellow chair. Love your ideas and can't wait to see what you do! PS-I'll be in Charleston Thursday for a coffee date!

  3. I like the idea of slipcovering the four chairs (they sell cotton ones at World Market) and then finding two fun end chairs. A lot of times you can find awesome ones like the ones you pictured at Home Goods. Good luck 🙂

I love the look of 2 upholstered chairs! Very nice.

  5. I love the upholstered chairs, but I think it would be more practical to do slipcovers. That way you could easily switch them out and change it up!

I would leave the 4 chairs the way they are, and get 2 upholstered Parsons chairs (fabric to the floor) for the 2 end chairs. I found cheap chairs at Homegoods and then bought my fabric and had them reupholstered. My girlfriend found awesome ones at GDC already with fabric that she loved.

I LOVE the slip cover look. So fresh and chic!

  8. I'm so torn! The covers are great because if you get bored again in a few months you can always change them again….but I love the upholstered look!! Good luck, you've got great style so I'm sure what ever you pick will be great!

covers! They can be taken off and dry cleaned! Plus its nice to have (not right away) but winter ones made as well. We have cream with tone on tone monogram (S only) on each chair and love them
