I wanted to kick off the New Year with my most asked question through dm messages and emails, where are the best spots to eat in Charleston?? And let me honest and tell you guys I don’t venture out downtown near as much as I once did, so I am sure there are even more new restaurants that are amazing that I haven’t tried yet!! But I do have a list of some of my favorite restaurants all over Charleston that I love and that have never disappointed! You can also check out my old post here with my top 5 date night restaurants downtown, and these are ALL still amazing and would still be considered if not my top 5 then definitely my top 10!

This restaurant is located on Sullivans Island, and I have never had one dish that I didn’t absolutely LOVE on this menu. But if I had to narrow down my 3 favorites that I think you should order it would be the local lettuce salad (and I am not even a salad lover) ricotta gnocchi with short-ribs, and the moultrie pizza!

If I had to pick only one place I could eat for the rest of my life it would be Basil!! I have pretty much tried everything on menu, but my three favorites are the fresh basil rolls, fried wantons, and basil with chicken and have them add mushrooms!!

This restaurant is downtown, but where it is located there is plenty of parking. It’s been quite a while since I have had dinner here, but from what I remember it was good! But the main reason I am sharing this one is because of their outdoor lunch menu! You have to sit outside, but it’s very nicely decorated, and they have heaters when it is cold outside. Now to the good stuff, this is what I recommend if you visit them for lunch! For starters get the spicy pimento cheese, then as your main lunch meal either get the cheeseburger with bacon jam, or the fried chicken sandwich also know as “the lunchbox”!

This is another downtown restaurant and it’s located in the Market Pavillon Hotel. Todd and I revisited this oldie but goodie when I was pregnant with Reese, and oh my goodness I am dying to go back!! Todd had the best ribeye that I have ever tasted in my life with brussels and whipped potatoes, and I had the most amazing cooked to perfection seared scallops ever!

Also, located downtown but this one is on King street! This is the perfect place for a girls night out with delicious cocktails, or for a nice romantic dinner as well. Make sure you start out with the focaccia and the burrata, I promise you will thank me. And then as far as for the main course my favorites are tagliatelle pasta and spicy soppressata pizza.

This new gem is actually located on Daniel Island where we live!! And it has become a top rated restaurant really fast, and it’s not easy to get in! So I would make a reservations now if you love good seafood and you’re heading this way. Todd and I have managed to eat upstairs on the patio a handful of times, and I was able to get in the downstairs a few weeks ago with a few of my girlfriends. If you eat upstairs on the patio I highly recommend the oyster rockefeller, the trout reuben, or the DI burger!! And the view up on the rooftop is amazing overlooking the Wando River too btw! Now if you get in downstairs it’s a total different feel and menu. When we went I had the flatiron steak and it was amazing, and also make sure you get the fried calamari for the table to share. The fresh fish is changing all the time as are their specials!!

If you’re looking for a casual but delicious lunch spot downtown then make sure you stop in here! There are two locations one on Broad St, and the other on Calhoun and both are really really good!! You seriously can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but my favorites are the chipotle chicken pita, the apple butter jeans sandwich, and the mesquite turkey croissant!

I dream about this Japanese cabbage pancake, it’s seriously the best thing ever! And another favorite that is always on the menu is the fried black bean chicken with spicy papaya!

If you’re looking for a great place for sushi, tacos, and spicy margaritas then I cannot recommend Locals enough! And there is a location in West Ashley and Mt. Pleasant as well!

Last, but definitely not least on my list is Five Loaves Cafe!! I know you guys have seen me post on instagram a lot from here, especially lunch! If you go for lunch get the half sandwich and salad, and I swear by the roasted turkey on a croissant and the FLC caeser salad!!
