I am so excited about today. I want this to be a day where, as women and moms, we can just let it all out!! I have finally figured out in my thirty years of being here that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful!! That being said, sometimes it’s really funny and refreshing to hear about those not so perfect moments!
* To start things off, let’s talk about the fact that my butt and legs aren’t exactly tiny. I don’t feel that I am fat, but I would be lying if I told you that I have accepted that and have moved on as far as my butt and legs. I still think that somehow, someway I am going to shrink these puppies down, all while still enjoying my occasional Taco Bell;) To make matters worse, the other day in barre class, I got stuck beside Barbie Longlegs in the gym. Y’all, I am talking 5’9, legs for days, and thigh gap like I’ve never seen. Oh, and she had great hair. I jokingly said to my friend after class,  “I am glad I got stuck beside her because every time I looked in the mirror all I could think was that the girl looks like she ate a lot of carrots over vacation while it appears I ate a Kardashian.”  She and I both dyed laughing and her comeback was, “it was definitely Courtney though.” Haha…stop playing, you know it was Kim!
* Cooking a healthy family dinner in my house just never quite turns out like I had envisioned it in my head. I flip through my cookbooks, search Google, and stalk Pinterest to find the perfect healthy recipe that my entire family will love eat. Perfect example is the chicken Marsala I made the other day. I thought for sure I could hold the mushrooms and cut the chicken up in perfect squares and my kids would gobble it up. Not a chance!!! Carson’s first words after taking a bite were, “I am going to spit up, this taste like rotten fish.” My response was, “well, if you don’t eat my rotten, fish tasting chicken you don’t get dessert tonight or any other snack for that matter.” The battle went on and he left the table taking only two bites. Later that night, I caved and gave him yogurt and string cheese before bed. Please tell me this happens at y’alls house?? I just can’t stand the thought of my child going to bed hungry, but I hate cooking two meals and I want him to try different things.
* Over Christmas our neighbors across the street had one of those big blow up Mickey’s. Taylor was instantly obsessed and begged to go see it every single night! One night it was cold and rainy, but she wanted to see Mickey and wasn’t giving up. I looked at Todd and said, “I guess we’ve got to go see that ‘daggum’ Mickey again tonight.”. Well, Taylor heard me and from that night on she would say, “I wanna go see ‘daggum’ Mickey.” She told her teachers about ‘daggum’ Mickey, her grandparents about ‘daggum’ Mickey, and even now she still talks about that ‘daggum’ Mickey! Todd and I still laugh every time she says it! Thank goodness I didn’t say, “that ‘d@mn’ Mickey.”  Whoa, could you imagine the looks we would get from that.
* I am finally on the right dosage of Lexapro with no bad side effects!! Can I get a whoop whoop!! And I have never felt better in my life. I feel like I finally know exactly who I am, and that my friends, is an amazing feeling and one that I have never felt before. I used to be so embarrassed that I had to take medication, but I don’t feel that way anymore and it’s so refreshing! A friend once told me that anxiety is just like any other type of disease and if medication helped your disease you should take it. So y’all slap me if I try to stop taking my meds again because “I think I can handle it on my own.” I probably could handle it, but I can handle it a lot happier taking them!
* I am not a morning person at all!!!! Todd gets up every single morning at 4:30, goes to the gym and he’s home by 6. He bounces around like the Energizer bunny and is so perky. It drives me nuts, mainly because I am jealous that I don’t have that much energy. Ha!  Lucky for me, being that he has that much energy he always makes me coffee and brings it to me in bed, so for that, I am very thankful! It’s more like this every morning for me!
Last, I leave you with a few of my favorite e-cards. Is there anything better than a good laugh until you cry ecard?

  1. Love your new series! and you know sterling has turned into the pickiest eater ever. Frustrates me after I cook a delish meal. I need to get to barre class have not worked out in weeks. love it all and you:)

  2. Kimm says:

I love this serious. I was dying reading about your day at the gym. And girl I swear all the time my kids will eat what I cook, but a lot of times they don't and I just let them eat cereal! And yay for you feeling amazing! Glad I found your blog!

  3. Jillian says:

haha my husband is like that too… bouncing off the walls as soon as he gets up! i need breakfast before i really wake up. i guess it'll be helpful to have at least one of us perky in the morning…im sure it'll help with kids! xo jillian – cornflake dreams

  4. Love those ecards! I'm glad you found a dose of lexapro that works for you- nothing better than feeling good! I can't wait until I get to the point where I can make one dinner for my family instead of a toddler meal and then adult dinner!

  5. This series is awesome!! We don't cook seperation meals for the kids either. If they don't want it, they get a yogurt before bed – no dessert or any treats – It has to be something healthy. In time they'll get less picky I'm sure!

  6. These ecards made my day! And seriously…I saw a guy with the stick figures on the back once and above the mom there was an arrow and it read position open…too funny! For serious…don't sweat the dinner thing. I have two kids who will eat anything I cook and two that were/are picky eaters. After meeting some adult friends who are still picky eaters and hearing them share a few things with me I just decided it is truly something I can't fix. We encourage Dillon to try new things and occasionally he will and we are so thrilled but if he doesn't he knows where the pb&j and cereal are and he knows he's on his own.

  7. OH my! I just found your blog through some of the other fabulous blogs I read every morning, and I'm so happy to have found you! Our lives sound a little too similar, and I love it! I love being able to relate to someone so real! Thank you for helping me start my day with truth and laughter! Blessings to you!

  8. I love the last e-card! lol! Dinner is exacyly the same in my house — I try to makes something we'll all eat but my our son is happier with chicken nuggets!

  9. Loved this post! And I am so not a morning person either! So jealous of people, like Todd, who can get out of bed and get tons of things accomplished before the sun even comes up.

    LOL, great post 🙂

  11. I loved this post so much!! It's like chatting in real life and had me cracking up!!

Love reading your blog! And this new series is great. My husband is also a morning person and I am the opposite-I feel your pain! Keeping with the girl talk theme, I wondered what your take was on the new Target collaboration with Lilly Pulitzer.

  13. megan says:

Have you tried the chicken taco stew recipe? OMG. life changing. My husband is probably sick of it since I make it so often. But I mean… 200 cals per serving? can't beat it. seriously. here's the link: http://redsie05.blogspot.com/2010/10/ww-crock-pot-chicken-taco-chili.html even my 19-month-olds eat it!!

  14. I loved this wine talk – now if only we could REALLY meet up over a glass… Loved all these updates too! Our house is the same with meals for the kids, and I also wish one meal would just be good enough for us all! MC and I have the same morning battles – I am a grumpy goose who likes to sleep in and he is up early and with a smile on his face… One of my 2015 goals was to start waking earlier to enjoy the quiet time with him… x

  15. Unknown says:

Loving this series too and your recap of conversation at barre class!!! I literally feel like my legs and butt will forever look like khloe kardashian and there is no hope for me at all. But i'm still at barre class trying 🙂

  16. Anonymous says:

Oh wow, I love this post! I feel the pain on the butt and legs thing….mine will never be small either. Thanks for keeping it real!

  17. Caroline says:

HAhhaha love this new series !!!

  18. Unknown says:

Hope I'm not double posting but thank you for your advice about the sizing on the Brielle dress the other day! I wouldn't have ordered an XS otherwise. It arrived today and fits perfectly :). Thanks!!

  19. caycee says:

Yay!!! I am so happy to hear this!!!

  20. caycee says:

Thank you Cassandra!!! You know I don't know exactly how I feel about this!! On one hand I am super excited, but then on the other hand I feel like it kinda takes away from the brand. Does that even make sense?! 😉 I know it's going to be super crazy when it gets here though, and you better believe I'll be in Target checking it out!!!

  21. Best post ever!!!!!! Keep em coming sister. Funny and real is where it's at! You would die if you saw the amt of meds I have to take these days. Whatever works, right?! You don't even want to know how ginormous I look and feel next to the ladies at ballet. And they're all older than I am. Ugh. Bad genes for me I guess. I just keep on dancing though.

  22. Chelsea says:

Thanks for sharing and being honest.. I love your story about taking anxiety medicine because I am going through that right now and it is nice to know others that are taking medicine because I felt so wrong that I was having to take it. I am so glad it is working for you.

  23. Those e-cards were hilarious, and your moment at the gym almost made me spit out my tea, too funny. I feel the same way 🙂

  24. Christina says:

hahaah i laughed so hard at carson's comment. though i bet your chicken tasted amazing! chicken marsala was the first thing my grammy taught me to cook (well, besides cookies) and i still love it so much. SO happy you're on the right dosage. that's amazing news. love u lady!

  25. Love this new series!! So glad the meds are working! My kids go to bed hungry and then they eat whatever I want them to eat for breakfast ;). Your are too funny about barre class you gorgeous girl!

  26. Sarah Condon says:

We have the same battles at dinner. Madison used to be good with eating what I cook but now it is like pulling teeth. Miles is going to be a problem eater I think. He won't hardly eat anything. 😁 and I refuse to make 2 different t meals– who has time for that. I usually cave too and give her yogurt and fruit. I probably should stop but I am like u– I don't want her to go to bed hungry. Dinner is so difficult– sometimes I feel it would be easier to just go out so everyone can get what they want and I don't have to deal with them not eating. Or maybe my cooking just plan sucks– 😜!! That may be the problem. 😁

  27. Katie says:

Lawd the dinnertime battles are HORRIBLE. I swore I was going to start making my 4 year old eat what we eat, but several times a week I find myself caving and just making him his favorite (breakfast for dinner). One day he will eat healthy and balanced meals, right??

  28. Dinner. I have been doing this for 19 years. My first kid ate everything. Its not like that anymore. All these years later, dinner sucks and I have learned to just deal with it. Its actually kind of funny when you think about it.
Oh and I also wonder if anyone actually thinks before they ask "Will that be it for you?". Funny, funny!

  29. Julia Ryan says:

love you girl!!!! This is such a fun post. I always love when you open up! And of course all those e-cards have me dying laughing! xo

  30. Great post! This is going to be fun. Your comment after your barre class was hilarious. Don't worry I definitely look like a Kardashian too with all of this going on. 🙂 So so glad you are feeling good!! Cheers to that! Have a great week. XO
