As if our lives haven’t been crazy enough lately, I decided to toss in two trips in February!
The first trip is in two weeks and we are heading to Sapphire, NC with six couples who happen to be some of our closest friends, plus…ALL of our kids! There will be a total of 14 kids and 12 adults, but don’t worry, we’ve rented a big ol’ 9,000 square foot cabin to hold all of us. I can’t tell you how excited we all our about this trip, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there will be some snow! But either way, it’s going to be COLD and with Charleston, and it’s crazy warm winters, I’ve got a few things that I need to grab before our trip. So, I thought it would be fun to share what I’m planning on packing so I’ll be warm and bundled for our upcoming trip!

I purchased these last week and they arrived over the weekend. As much as I love them, I think I should have gone up a size. They feel way too snug around my man-calves…ha! So, my plan was to send these back and re-order them in size seven. Since I’ve shared them on Instagram, I’ve gotten some mixed reviews. So, what do you guys think? I would love to hear if you have a pair of these, and what your thoughts are on them!?!
I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to go with this jacket or this one, but they are both on sale and have awesome reviews. Either way, I don’t think I can go wrong!
Of course I’m planning on packing a few pair of these and these (they are both fabulous leggings), but I’m also thinking of ordering these as well. I love the arrow block print, along with the length for lounging or underneath boots.
How adorable is this tee, y’all!?!? I love that you can tie up the front or the back. And how cute would it be with the leggings that I just posted above!
If this beanie is anything like my favorite cardigans by Barefoot Dreams, then I may just have to grab one in every color 🙂 But seriously, it appears that it’s made out of the same exact material, so I know I’ll be living with this thing on my head in the mountains.
And last, I will most definitely be packing my North Face vest (which is now on major sale) and my favorite Ugg boots. There aren’t many sizes left in either, so I would grab them now if you want them.
As an Ohio girl who is used to snow and cold temps Sorel's are the best! Definitely keep them. They are super warm and have good traction so that you don't sleep on icey sidewalks.
I would not invest in Sorel boots if you live in Charleston and especially going to Sapphire. They are too warm of a boot and this winter is a warmer winter everywhere. They will probobaly have to pump snow. It would be different if you were getting great reviews but it is not a practical purchase just for the brand name. Have a blast– sounds like a fun trip!!!
I'm a Florida girl but I went to NYC in a December in the frigid single digit cold (no snow though) so I bought North Face snow boots. They were FAR more comfortable and warmer than my Hunters or (faux) Uggs. They're by far my fav cold weather boot! I wore them around town here a few times to break them in, not that they really needed it, and I got a ton of compliments on them, even though I felt ridiculous for wearing them in the 60s.
I live in the mountains of NC – in Boone. I own several pairs of Sorel boots and they definitely run small. I second the reader above that you probably don't actually need them. I have only worn mine one time this winter. If there's snow on the ground, you'll be fine in Hunters and cute socks.
When I first moved to Boston I got the same pair of Sorels. I HAAAAATE them. They are so uncomfortable, especially around the back of the heel/ankle. I think I wore mine like 5x and threw them in a closet. Try LL Bean!
I wouldn't spend the money to get the Sorel's, especially since you live in such a warm location. I spent 2 winters in Chicago and 2 winters in Boston and my Sperry duck boots always did a great job keeping my feet warm, whether taking a walk or shoveling. Much cheaper and you could probably wear them again!
Hello! I have sorel boots, but I live in Colorado! Haha. They are very warm and comfortable on a cold day or long day on the slopes. Unless NC has feet of snow, I wouldn't think you need them. There are tons of other boots that are more appropriate and fun for where you are going. In addition, Hunter boots are not winter boots. Just rain boots! We can always tell who is visiting because they wear them in 20 degree weather with snow. North Face, speedy and llbean make some great boots for "light" winters. Have fun!
I have Sorel Joan of Arc boots – they are warm, traction is good, but they are HEAVY. I pull them on when it's really snowy and arctic but otherwise I don't like to clomp around in them. I prefer my Sorel Slimpack – super warm (but hard to get on/off). If you want a much lighter, shorter more versatile boot, I'd say to get the shearling lined LL Bean boots instead – still cute, much easier to pull on/off and traction is just as good. HTH!
