I have been pretty good about not buying and changing the furniture around in the house over the last year. But I cant take it any longer with the downstairs living room. It is straight up driving me crazy!!

Now I cant decided what the hell to do??
My first thought was to just get a different table to go beside the couch, you know to replace that oversized matchy square you see beside it now.
So before I started blowing up the credit card I wanted to get an idea of what it might look like with a round smaller table. I took a random one I had upstairs and tried it out.
mmmmm….. it totally threw me off and got me thinking maybe I needed two side tables one on each side? just not sure there’s is enough room for that?

Then I thought maybe a side table on one side and a floor lamp on the other side, just to balance out that wall, and so I can center the mirror?

You got any suggestions or opinions on what you think would look best…one table or two, floor lamp and table??

  1. I totally go stir crazy over the rooms in my houes as well! I'm personally a fan of the symmetry of two tables. But the best is just to try things out with what you have until the inspiration hits for what to buy 🙂

  2. I don't think you have room for two tables. I think they will have to be super small if you do and that will look dinky. I like the idea of a new table maybe round or even an arcyllic/lucite table. I think that room is pretty dark with because the couch is dark and a glass or lucite table would lighten things up I will email you a link of an idea. So I like the idea of one table and then a floor lamp. We can discuss today:) xoxo

  3. I'd go nuts too. You don't want two tiny tables b/c their proportions will not be good with that heavy couch. Have you considered putting two chairs there with a little table in between? Or selling your current couch and getting a smaller one? Sorry Todd…

  4. I like the idea of a different colored round table. Maybe something to coordinate with your accent colors, clear, or even metallic. What if you floated your couch somewhere else in the room and put the chairs there like Chassity suggested? Redecorating is fun fun! I can't wait to see pictures!

  5. Julia Ryan says:

totally agree with Chassity, I'd ditch the couch altogether. Especially like the idea of the CB2 lucite nesting tables we talked about. They would look even better in between two chairs 😉
So, sell you couch and buy two club chairs. You won't be happy with anything else.

  6. I like the idea of two club chairs. Target has some that are pretty reasonable. They also have a floor lamp right now that is awesome! Looks like Pottery Barn. It comes in a light wood color and black. I think it's 80 bucks.

  7. Dina says:

I'd do 2 club chairs with a round mirrored table in between with a lamp on it, and then a round coffee table in front, and if you needed more seating and had the space, maybe a loveseat. Don't you have 2 chairs in front of the fireplace that could take the place of the couch? It would look a little "lighter" I think 🙂

  8. If you decide to trade in your old sofa for something new…and don't want to go chairs…this is a really great looking couch that is a bit lighter and looks smaller than your current one. With a lucity table or glass table it would look awesome! ~Brett
