You know the saying when it rains it pours. (Literally too, yesterday was a freaking monsoon around here).  I was trying really hard to start off my day in a good mood, I’ve been in a little funk so I really needed/wanted things to go smoothly. Plus it was cleaning lady day, and that is always a good start. Well, most of the time….. I shit you not, the freaking dryer broke as soon as she started the first load of clothes!!!!! I know you’re probably thinking grow up, worse things happen.  Maybe it’s a sign my lazy ass needs to do my own laundry! This I know, but it still put me in a really bad mood. Ugh, Todd swears I brought this on with the negative attitude I’ve had lately! He then proceeded to tell me, keep thinking all these negative thoughts and the fridge is going to break, then the alligator in the back yard is going to eat through our fence and we will have to replace all that too. Haha can you tell he believes your thoughts effect the things that happen to you 🙂  What’s your thought on this subject? Do you think your thoughts and actions affect the things that happen to you and the happiness of your day? Or do you believe that life just sometimes throws you lemons even if you were thinking about fluffy clouds and rainbows. I think I feel like it’s a little bit of both, but definitely believe the quote below 100%.
Either way starting today I am going to try real hard to be positive, happy and in a good mood. Cause let’s be real life is pretty darn good. Plus judging by our last family picture my “bad mood” is rubbing off on Carson 😉
(no really, he had just found a baby frog and we made him put it down to snap this photo).
PS Oh yeah and to add to my stinky day I realized I totally messed y’all up too…the dang Bloomingdale’s sale ended Sunday night, so you couldn’t save your 20% yesterday 🙁 I am so sorry about that, and will be on my A game next sale!!!!

  1. Ugh sorry you had a bad day. I have noticed though that when I'm in a bad mood bad things happen haha so I think your hubby may be right. I hope today is a lot better for you 🙂

Bad days suck…but no offense, you're a SAHM who has a cleaning lady that also does your laundry. As a working mom, who owns a cleaning business on the side, I say count your blessings and cheer up. There seem to be a lot of bright things in your life to be happy about! 😉

  3. Brandi says:

When things like that happen, I try to remember that things could be worse….you could have a terminally ill kid, hubby could lose job, etc. I have to remember how blessed I am…kids are healthy, hubby and I have a great jobs, we have food on the table. You get the idea. I was complaining that we have to pay $3,000 for my son's spacer. Rob was like, just thank God that we have money to pay for it..a lot of people don't have the money and can't have their teeth fixed. So true. Oh, and my hubby thinks the same as your hubby. Keep your head up!

If you're in a bad mood anything else that goes wrong that day will seem 10x's worse. I try to stop, breathe, and pray. Having a little quiet time doing my Bible study in the morning helps start my day off right too and puts me in a more positive mood. Hope today is better 🙂

  5. No matter who you are or what your situation is you'll have a bad day ever now and then. I am a firm believer that we are all responsible or our own happiness and that we can choose happy. Choosing to be happy is much easier than just wallowing in self pitty / anger / resentment for sure.

  6. I hate it when one bad thing leads to another and another and you feel like you can't catch a break. Sorry you're having one of those times! I also think it's a little of both. I think happiness can be a choice, and we can choose to focus on the positive. Sometimes though "stuff" happens and there's nothing we can do about it. Hope your week gets better!

  7. oh my stars. the realness of that family pic is so endearing. and he looks so cute being mad about the frog!!!! melt.

love that quote as well, girlie!!!

    xx

    {cheers y'all}

  8. Boo. We all have bad days and bad moods. We're human. It makes the good days and good moods even better. Hang in there girl.

I have enjoyed your blog but had to say something after this post. First of all you live in Charleston, a city my husbands job took me away from so that is a blessing to be there. You have a devoted husband, a nice house, a luxury car, a cleaning lady, family to help and your kids are not home with you all day. I really think your complaining is selfish. I stay at home with my kids and they are home with me all day everyday. I am the cleaning lady and my husband travels frequently so I have the kids alone with zero family nearby. His mother would have been the closest but she just recently died from cancer. You are a young mom who gets lunch outings, mani pedis, constant sitters and still have time to shop for clothes constantly. I would not complain. It comes across as super self centered and your husband is right.

    Dear Salem20,

First off I'am so very sorry to hear about your husbands mother, that is so sad and I will be praying for your family.

I did however want to clarify a few things (not complain just clarify) We have only had a sitter one time since mid- August(so not constant). Besides the three hours a day they are in MMO (which I believe is good for them and me) they are with me the rest of the time day and night. (I say night because one of them if not both are up in the middle of the night). As far as" family help" both our parents live 2hrs away and we have only my parents who will babysit once every few months if really needed. All this to say that yes I am very blessed (and though it didn't come across in this post)also very thankful.

Again I am so sorry that I offended you. I hope you are your sweet family have a wonderful day!
    Xoxo

  12. It's your blog sweetheart, if you can't share your TRUE feelings than what good is it? You shared how YOU feel about things going on in YOUR life. If anyone wants to argue that just remember that old saying about throwing all of everyone's problems into a pile, we would always grab ours back- (even though your complaining might be 'selfish' to others, you could be only complaining about 1/1000 of your problems) sometimes it just feels GOOD to vent. No matter how petty. <3 🙂

  13. Ok, first off, to answer your initial question – Yes, i think that your thoughts effect how your day goes and the situations that you find yourself in. Negativity attracts negativity and positivity attracts a smile. Secondly, although I am somewhat agree Salem20, it probably could have been stated in a better way. I am an working mom of 2 and my husband works 3 jobs just to provide for the babies that we have. I never, ever get lunch, mani's/pedi's, and sure as hell dont have a cleaning lady. As much as my 1 and 2 year old drive me bonkers, I would LOVE and give anything i could to stay home with them and not miss a second with them as they grow. Here's my advice – count your blessings BUT if you need to vent about things that arent going right, you are allowed to do that. I think if you hold that in, it will only be worse. While Im not offended by your post, those that are should try to understand, or stop reading. Simple as that. Everyone has these days and if you say you dont, you arent being honest with yourself. Here is a quote i try to remember:
"Strong woman dont play victim, dont make themselves look pitiful, and dont point fingers. They stand and they deal"
    Happy Wednesday! 🙂

  14. My mom used to say that quote all the time! She always said you control your own happiness– I used to want blame unhappy times on other people or events, which is sooo easy to do. It is hard when something happens to upset/frustrate you to be happy! To me, it doesn't matter what you have or don't have… you can have a bad day over the smallest (or biggest) things. I totally feel you with this! Hope you have a great day today!! 🙂

  15. you are being REAL, it is obvious you are are a greatful and thankful person. I am so sick of people twisting our thoughts!! You are perfect the way you are..geez we aren't happy all of the time..

I love your blog and no one should judge you for expressing yourself! Everyone has a bad day and everyone has the right to vent!

  17. elisabeth says:

I absolutely love this picture of Carson. This would make the perfect "Happy New Year" card!

  18. megan says:

Keep your chin up! Everyone has a bad day or two and this is your blog and you are allowed to express your true feelings. Don't let it (or them) get you down. 🙂 We all forget how blessed we are at times.

  19. caycee says:

Thank you for saying this…. xoxo

  20. caycee says:

Awe Beth you always make me smile 😉 Thank you girl!

  21. caycee says:

So so true…thank you for picking me back up 😉

  22. caycee says:

Love that last quote! And coming from a working mother I can only imagine haw hard it can be, so thank you so much for your comment.

  23. Julia Ryan says:

I'm reading this late and think it's kind of funny if anyone took this the wrong way. I'm so tired of people who don't allow you to have a bad day on your blog. Just remember that 99% of the people who stop by here, do so to see YOU. Keep being you. Good and bad. And I'm also so tired of people who think just because you have a "great" life with all of the boxes checked for happiness that you can't have a bad day. Girl, we all struggle sometimes no matter how pretty our life looks (or is).

That being said, I totally agree with Todd. Not that I can have this perspective all the time, but it's true. Like, I can't believe the effing dryer broke that's just effing awesome v. well at least it was the effing dryer and not the damn washer and I've got my girl here today to help me hang these clothes to dry. Perspective does help. I can't believe I had to buy an effing tire for my car today to pass state inspection. There goes my playroom accessories budget v. I can't believe I had to buy an effing tire for my car today. Thank god I can swipe my debit card through without holding my breath. What would someone do if they didn't have an extra $240 for this nonsense today. Leave their car here and walk?

You know I LOVE you! I've been in a funk lately too. Pray for change. It works 🙂

  24. Julia Ryan says:

Despite what it may look like on the outside, I can relate much more to your situation than my dear friend Caycee's lifestyle. That being said, please don't hold her to a higher standard than you hold yourself. Having nice things doesn't exempt you from sadness or frustration. Caycee is a wonderful friend, mother, and wife. She comes here to share herself with the world. We should applaud her for not pretending that her life or her happiness is a perfect 10 all the time. Many people think that having nice things or more money will bring you constant happiness and Caycee is giving a very real perspective that we all have bad days, and that's ok. Why should having a cleaning lady or a nice car exempt her from feeling down? LOVE YOU CAYCEE!!!

  25. What a kind reply, Caycee. Having a good life certainly doesn't exempt you from having a bad day, nor does it mean you can't complain about it. You're just human. Keep being you….you seem like a sweet and fun girl, and a great mom and wife.

  26. I love so much that you are real with your feelings! Just because you may live a comfortable life doesn't mean you don't have bad days. Hang in there girl, you are awesome! I love reading about you and your family! God Bless!!

  27. Nat says:

I know I'm kind of late but I had to comment. Wow I can't believe some of the other comments!! It's totally ok to complain and whine and bitch- just because you have nice things doesn't mean you can't have a bad day once in a while. Life isn't always perfect and this is YOUR blog so you can say whatever you want. My situation is very similar to yours- my friends are always like you're so lucky and you don't know it. They don't realize my husband never comes home from work until after 8pm and travels pretty much every week. So it's me alone with the dog and baby 90% of the time- so I deserve some help!
